Justin Nevins quickly unlocked the secret to success by recognizing after years as a corporate consultant that following your true passion is the key. His fascination with mathematical and linguistic puzzles, inventions and natural materials stems from childhood and is the trademark for his own company today.

“I studied games and mathematical and linguistic puzzles when I was young - always trying to figure out how things worked and how to make them work better. I loved to solve and create puzzles and codes. As a child, people would ask what I wanted to be when I ‘grew up,’ and I would always say, ‘an inventor’,” said Nevins.

Throughout his business career helping companies solve operational problems and create efficient procedural systems, love of puzzles and mysteries remained - becoming a springboard for subject-specific educational games he developed to assist children in such subjects as mathematics, science, language, cryptography and more.

“I was interested in helping children with not only the material they needed for school, but most importantly how to learn, how to solve problems and how to succeed in life with these tools,” he added.

It was one of the educational puzzle boxes Nevins designed for a treasure hunt - complete with riddle solving, “Elvish” writing, and UV sensitive invisible ink - that sparked an interest in a secured hidden compartment of the mysterious ancient box about which he had read.

The introduction of the mysterious box and the secrets it guarded in the Dan Brown Novel, The Da Vinci Code, proved too tempting and quickly became the inspiration for the intricate, fully functional and masterfully crafted Cryptex® Security Box on which Cryptex.org was founded.

The unique security box is the cumulative result of inventive creativity, fascination with the intricacy of language and an innate artistic talent that Nevins possesses.

“I have always enjoyed working with quality wood, metal and stone. By creating such pieces with the materials I’ve selected, these one-of-a-kind boxes serve not only as complex puzzles, but true works of art as well. It seemed the natural progression for my designs,” said Nevins.
