Every Cryptex® Security Box is unique, designed specifically to the customer using a selection of superior materials and varying levels of "code" complexity and security sophistication.

The dimensions of the box can vary depending on customer request but are generally 2.25 inches in diameter with a storage space of about 1.75 inches in diameter. The length of the box is dependant on the number of Code Rings and the width of the Spacer Rings. A 5 Code Ring box is approximately 8 inches long.

Each Element and Its Function

Spacer Rings

• Stationary insets made from a variety of premium woods, metals, marble or granite including but not limited to: white oak, mahogany, purple heart, bloodwood, ebony, cocobolo, holly, or customer specified wood, brass, polished aluminum, and a variety of marbles and granites.
• Sitting between Code Rings, they indicate where the password should be aligned in order to open the box and have either a wood inlay pattern (for wood boxes) or are etched and inlay with gold or silver leaf.
• Widths vary according to customer requests - generally .75 to 1 inch wide.

Code Rings

• Encircling the box between the Spacer Rings, they are generally made of Brass, or Polished Aluminum.
• Holds 26 characters representing a number of different languages and almost any symbol and font (number of characters can vary depending on the language requested).
• The characters can be coded to serve as a lock to the box and its contents - reaching over eight billion combinations and nearly three hundred thousand "false combinations".*
• Number of Code Rings generally varies from three to seven, although there is really no limit other than the length of the box.

*False Codes are an added security feature designed to deter someone from trying to "pick" the lock.

End Caps

• Complete each end of the security box and come in two styles, Standard and Deluxe.

Standard End Caps

• Made of basic Brass or Polished Aluminum.
• Marked with a Trademark, Serial Number and Artist's signature.

Deluxe End Caps

• Made of handcrafted hybrid metal and wood or stone similar in size to the Standard End Caps.
• Features a circular piece of the same material used in the Spacer Ring - set into the flat end - and engraved or etched to and inlay with metal to match the Code Rings.
• Marked with a Trademark, Serial Number and Artist's signature.
• Required on higher-end boxes of marble or granite.

Security Tube

• Made of the same material as the Code Rings, allowing for engraving or dedications on the inside of the box.
• Can include a fabric-lined drawer to accommodate jewelry, a smaller Cryptex® Security Box or other fragile contents.
• Measures approximately 1.75 inch in diameter.
